Author launches multicultural 'Kids Like Mine' bookmobile
Latashia Perry, owner of the new 'Kids Like Mine' mobile book boutique, has written several books about different hair textures and skin colors.
A mother of six, Perry says she created the store to not only inspire children but help parents of all races find multicultural books, toys and apparel.
Right now Perry, says she reads virtually to classes and already has schools from other states looking to bring her in to encourage their students.
“It’s just important for kids to be able to see themselves portrayed in a positive way. We’re often saying that kids aren’t into reading anymore and I think just what it is... they don’t have books they can relate to, when kids can open up books and see characters that look like themselves it makes them more excited about reading," said Latashia Perry, owner of Kids Like Mine mobile bookstore.
